In all of the horror film posters that I have analysed, I have seen that there are techniques that all three posters have used...
- All posters have information on who stars in the film right at the foot of the poster
- The main image of the poster has 'clues' of what the film will be about
- All posters have the release date
- In all of the posters, the background is a 'dull' and 'sinister' colour or image.
- The posters have a website that the audience can go on; e.g. 'www.blairwitchproject.com'
Therefore, in the poster that I will be creating, I will include some of the techniques that the horror poster already has.
All horror poster have all these dark colours that have been added, this gives the effect that film that is going to be released is going to be dark and eerie. The colours that I have seen the most in horror movie posters are 'red' and 'black'. Because of this, I will be using black and red as my main colours in my poster.
Another thing that I have realised in horror film posters is that the image is always going to be a close up shot of someone's face or a long shot image of a figure of the ghost or the demonic creature. As this is the case, I will be using a long shot image of my 'possessed' person as this will get the audience thinking of what might the film will be about.

Ranita, you need to focus on what horror posters in particular have in common, not just posters generally.
ReplyDeleteDo they generally use similar colours and fonts? Do they use similar images and backgrounds? Do they tend to use similar strap lines? More needed.
Not sure why you've posted a screen shot of the A4 paper when you have summarised the rings underneath.
