Feedback on horror film
WWW:
- The use of sound was good, it completed the horror movie and made the horror film what it is.
- The story like worked well and it flowed well. It did not confuse the audience and the audience were able to follow the story line well.
- Overall, the film worked well. If the suggested changes are to be completed, the film will be on its way.
- The editing of the film was done well.
EBI:
- The sound in the film could be brought in. Where the sound is quite and soft and then the sound builds up as this will build up tension.
- The character's voice was distorted by the wind when filming outside. Therefore, that can be changed by doing a voice over.
- The person who is possessed at the end, 'Amandeep's' eyes could be a different colour, eg; completely black or red.
This could then be completed by having a close up shot of Amandeep's eyes at the end. - When 'Rajveer' jumps out and scares his friends, he could wear a white sheet as a Halloween costume, where then the white bed sheet can be used as an object of significance.

Horror Film Names
In the end, when we came back together as a group we decided that we wanted a complete different name.
This is because we did not want to confuse the audience by the name of the film. Most of the horror films that we have watched all have a very simple name. Therefore, for our own horror film we decided to go for a simple title for the film which was 'The Possession'.

What have I found out?
In all of the horror film posters that I have analysed, I have seen that there are techniques that all three posters have used...
- All posters have information on who stars in the film right at the foot of the poster
- The main image of the poster has 'clues' of what the film will be about
- All posters have the release date
- In all of the posters, the background is a 'dull' and 'sinister' colour or image.
- The posters have a website that the audience can go on; e.g. 'www.blairwitchproject.com'
Therefore, in the poster that I will be creating, I will include some of the techniques that the horror poster already has.
All horror poster have all these dark colours that have been added, this gives the effect that film that is going to be released is going to be dark and eerie. The colours that I have seen the most in horror movie posters are 'red' and 'black'. Because of this, I will be using black and red as my main colours in my poster.
Another thing that I have realised in horror film posters is that the image is always going to be a close up shot of someone's face or a long shot image of a figure of the ghost or the demonic creature. As this is the case, I will be using a long shot image of my 'possessed' person as this will get the audience thinking of what might the film will be about.

In what ways does your media product use,
develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media?
Our short film that the group had created used the typical horror conventions that we had previously had seen in existing horror films. For example, in a horror film, we decided to use low key lighting as we found out that in all of the horror films, low key lighting was used. This would allow the audience who is watching the short horror film to feel anxious and question themselves as they will not know what may jump up from around the corner.
Also, in the horror film we decided to use a house that is empty as most horror films use houses that are abandoned as there is most likely going to be a story to why the house was left abandoned.
By using these existing conventions and forms of horror films, it would automatically make the horror film what it is. If we were to use bright happy colours in the horror film then people would feel confused into what film that they are actually watching.
Also we have decided to film our film in the dark as most horror movies are more successful when they are filmed at night as it grows the suspicions of not knowing what is going to happen.

What have you learnt from your audience
feedback?
Before the filming had started, we had to a questionnaire. This questionnaire had helped the group as we all knew what the audience had wanted to see. It was beneficial that this questionnaire was done as a film would have been made where only the group would have enjoyed it, however our audience wouldn’t have enjoyed it.
From what we had found out from the questionnaire, we decided to put into place what the audience had said about how they like to see their horror films.
However, the group had shown the ideas to a teacher who had previously filmed a film. When we had a meeting with the teacher, he had mentioned that the film idea that we had was too long and there were some aspects of the film that would have been impossible for us to do. For example, we had an idea about a light bulb blowing up and the glass smashing. We originally had through that this was a good idea, however when having the meeting with the teacher, we had realised that it wouldn’t have been a realistic idea for a short horror film, filmed by sixth form students.

How did you incorporate a range of media
technologies within the research and planning stages of your film?
In order to film the short horror film, we obviously needed to use cameras. Therefore, we had used the normal filming cameras, however, we felt like using a drone while filming would also be a good idea as it would get some good angles and shots for the horror film.
We also decided that in our film it would be a good idea to incorporate the idea of the teenagers using snapchat in the film.
The group had thought of this as teenagers now are always using snapchat, and by using a social media app that everyone was familiar with, it would have made the film seem more realistic.
On my blog, I used YouTube to help with the planning of my films. When I had research horror films and short horror films, YouTube was always used as there were so many videos on there that would have helped us with our own short horror movie.
I also used the programme called ‘PowToons’ where I had done a mini evaluation.
